2009 BDPA National High School Computer Competition

About fifteen Tampa Bay area youth spent four months preparing   for the national high school computer competition. Each Saturday morning, rain or shine, the students were in their seats and ready to learn web design, networking, HTML, Java programming, and dbase development and management from 9 am to noon.  Additionally, adult volunteers from Verizon, The Nielsen Company, O’Brien Management Services and Skill of Success, trained the students on project management, problem solving, time management, teamwork and public speaking in order to prepare them for life in general and this competition in particular. Tampa Bay Students Prep for August 6th, 2009 Competition

Student Training Kicks Off.
One May 2, 2009, 18 students and their parents arrived for the kick off of our tech and business training sessions, which run from 9 am to 12:00 noon each Saturday at Computer Mentors Group (2802 E MLK Jr Blvd., Suite F, Tampa, FL .

Three to five of the 12-18 students will be selected to represent the Greater Tampa Bay area at a national computer competition held in Raleigh, NC., May 5-8, 2009. For details, email: fpshines@gmail.com (Frank Shines).

 

Annual CMG-BDPA Golf Charity Event


Tampa BDPA, in partnership with Computer Mentors Group (CMG), hosts an annual golf charity event which raises funds to train, motivate and develop Tampa Bay area at-risk youth towards successful careers in business and technology.
